The Danube Motif for the Lyrics of Eminescu

Abstract
The Danube is an integral part of Romania. In the 19th century, the Danube had become an obsession in the sense of its integration in the Carpathian-Danubian-Pontic lyrical triad. Naturally, Eminescu integrates the Danube motif among the others. The specific marks of Eminescu are found in his poetic visionary, integrated in emblematic poems such as “Memento mori”, “Scrisoarea a III-a/3rd Letter”, or “Revedere/Goodbye”. The lyrical genesis transforms the geographical detail into an integral part of a vision of the grandiose and transcendence.
